Item Description:

PIETENPOL N44162

This plans built 1928 Pietenpol Aircramper was built by Sandy Love and flown on its first flight in 1994. The original airplane was designed by Bernard H. Pietenpol. His original airplane hangar and workshop are located on the Pioneer Airstrip at the EAA grounds in Oshkosh, WI. Although some of the original Pietenpols were powered by a Ford Model A engine, Bernard Pietenpol later modified it to accept the Chevrolet Corvair engine. Our model is powered by a Franklin aircraft engine. The Piets were designed to have either a one piece or a three piece wing. Ours has the three piece design. The two outer wings remove and the parasol over the pilots head stays in place. Our airplane is flyable and was flown one week before we brought it back to Fond du Lac. We acquired this aircraft from Sandy Love, the builder, on September 9, 2000. It was transported to Fond du Lac by museum personnel.
