1941 Culver Cadet N37828. Featured on the cover of EAA Vintage Magazine April 1998. A plane that was rebuilt over the course of 38 years. An Al Mooney design, this plane was manufactured in a factory in Witchita, KS, that was managed by a man named Walter Beech. Sound familiar? With names like these in its lineage the Culver Cadet has to be quite an airplane. And it is! This airplane was completely rebuilt from the ground up by Mr. Robert Lee of Prescott AZ. She was later acquired by Mr. Joe Deruytter of Lake Placid FL, who was gracious enough to donate her to the museum. To date, the engine has about 438 hours on it, and the airframe has only 1038 total hours since new – truly a low-time antique airplane. Special thanks to Joe Deruytter for donating this airplane to us. Thanks also to Robert Muir for flying the plane from Florida to Fond du Lac WI for us. |
