What are the Optimists?
Who and What are the Optimists?
Who are we? We are a Fond du Lac service club of civic minded men and women who are volunteers to service our community, with special dedication to the needs of children.
What do we do? We, Develop leadership skills; Experience fun and fellowship; We become involved in our community; We network with other business people; We achieve a positive outlook on life; We enhance our personal self-worth.
How much time is required? From as little a one hour per week to attend weekly meetings, up to several  hours each month if you are an officer.
Is club meeting attendance required? No, but to be fully involved in the club activities, it is recommended that you attend two or three meetings per month.
What is the cost? Our club dues are $70.00 per year. We meet for dinner each week, but many members attend the meeting only, and don't attend the dinner portion of the evening. The dinner menu is varied, and is an extra cost.
How is the club funded? Our club has two sources of income. Membership dues and fund raising projects. Membership dues cover the administrative costs of the club, while the money from the fund raising projects goes directly to the community and youth projects we fund. During 1996 we formed a tax exempt foundation. Interest from this foundation currently is used to fund scholarships to deserving students, but can be used to fund other club activities, or any other function that the foundation board of directors desires.
